Sustainability & waste management expert

About the Role

As an, you will be responsible for waste management and the development of sustainability concepts at the Aspern Seestadt site. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with legal requirements and support the EHS Manager in implementing environmental, health and safety measures.

How you will contribute:

1. Waste management: Serve as a certified waste management officer, including the operational implementation and maintenance of the waste management concept.
2. Development and implementation: develop, implement, and maintain the waste management concept in compliance with regulations.
3. Monitoring: Oversee and manage waste disposal processes to ensure compliance with all legal standards.
4. Sustainability concepts: Development and monitoring of concepts with a focus on buildings, work processes, climate strategies, and CO2 reduction.
5. Sustainability reporting: Preparation of reports in accordance with CSRD/ESRS requirements and analysis of the status quo.
6. Regulatory trends: Monitoring of regulatory developments and assessing their impact on business practices, with a focus on sustainable practices and CO2 reduction.
7. Promote initiatives: Driving initiatives such as eco-friendly chemicals, hazardous waste reduction, recycling, and reusable laboratory systems.
8. Technical standards: Local implementation and auditing of global technical standards for R&D.
9. EHS tools: Maintenance and management of internal tools.
10. General support: Support for operational processes and risk management on site.

Skills and qualifications

11. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental management, sustainability, logistics, or similar fields.
12. Certification as a waste management officer is mandatory; additional certifications are an advantage.
13. At least 5 years of professional experience in environmental management, preferably in waste management and carbon accounting.
14. Deep understanding of legal and environmental standards as well as sustainability strategies and regulatory affairs.
15. Knowledge of sustainability standards (e.g., CSRD/ESRS).
16. Proficient in MS Office, SAP, Power BI, and EHS tools.
17. Fluent German and English language skills.
18. Effective communication skills and strong stakeholder management.
19. Independent and structured way of working.
20. Ability to collaborate across departments.
21. Willingness to train as a laser safety officer and safety representative is desirable.

What we offer you:

A competitive remuneration package with a minimum salary of € 4.270,14 gross per month (full-time, collective wage agreement for the chemical industry) - the actual salary is higher and depends on your professional experience and qualifications.
