Data Platform Engineer (f/m/d)
A Data Platform Engineer designs, builds, and maintains the core infrastructure that supports data storage, processing, and access across an organization. They develop scalable platforms, integrate diverse data sources, and ensure reliability, security, and performance of data systems. This role focuses on enabling analytics and machine learning by providing robust, automated, and efficient data environments, often leveraging cloud technologies and modern data architectures.
Your Responsibilities
* Design and implement scalable data platforms that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence needs
* Develop and maintain data infrastructure including data lakes, data lakehouses, warehouses, and streaming systems for high availability and performance
* Automate data workflows and deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
* Ensure data security and compliance by implementing encryption, access controls, and regulatory standards (GDPR, SOC2)
* Monitor and optimize platform performance through observability tools, resource tuning, and cost management
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, analysts, ML teams) to align platform capabilities with business requirements
* Integrate and manage big data technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Spark, Kafka, and cloud-native services for real-time and batch processing
Your Profile
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in data platform engineering
* Familiarity with ITIL processes and their implementation beneficial
* Good spoken and written language skills both in English and German
* Intercultural competences due to international cooperation
* Good communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
* Documentation skills – able to clearly summarize and document processes and validation results
