The Role
Reporting to the CEO, The Group IT Manager is responsible for leading, securing and optimising all technology systems across the COSCA Group of Entities. This role exists to stabilise and secure the group’s technology environment, achieve alignment with Essential Eight cyber security standards, remove operational IT dependency from the CEO, and ensure all systems are governed, documented and scalable. The role also supports strategic growth, including mergers and acquisitions, and enables innovation once core infrastructure is secure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Governance & Cyber Security
Own cyber security posture across all entities.
Implement and maintain an incident response framework.
Oversee penetration testing and vulnerability management.
Ensure alignment with AFSL-related technology governance requirements.
Maintain audit-ready documentation of access controls, system architecture and policies.
Oversee data governance, retention standards and access protocols.
2. Infrastructure & Systems Management
Oversee Microsoft 365, Azure and core cloud environments.
Manage device lifecycle, endpoint security and identity management.
Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks.
Ensure full visibility across all users, devices and systems.
Eliminate shadow IT.
Maintain clear documentation of architecture and system interdependencies.
Provide hands‑on technical capability where required while overseeing outsourced execution.
Own and manage the outsourced MSP relationship.
Set service expectations, KPIs and accountability standards.
Review and optimise vendor contracts and licensing.
Ensure cost discipline and system rationalisation across entities.
Identify duplication and inefficiencies across the group.
4. Strategic Technology Planning
Develop and maintain a 2–3 year technology roadmap.
Present annual IT strategy and budget to the CEO.
Prepare business cases for system improvements and automation.
Support integration and optimisation of core platforms.
Identify opportunities for workflow automation and AI deployment once infrastructure is stabilised.
5. Mergers & Acquisitions Integration
Lead technology due diligence for acquisitions.
Develop structured 90‑day integration frameworks.
Standardise systems across acquired entities.
Remove CEO involvement from operational integration execution.
Ensure seamless transition into cosca’s governance and security framework.
Influence partners and staff to adopt new systems and standards.
Translate complex technical concepts into practical business language.
Drive behavioural adoption of cyber security practices.
Promote disciplined system use and documentation.
Act with high agency and accountability.
Success Measures – First 12 Months
CEO fully removed from day‑to‑day IT decision‑making.
Essential Eight uplift roadmap implemented and underway.
Clear documentation of all systems, users and architecture.
Centralised visibility over all devices and access controls.
MSP relationship operating under structured governance.
M&A integration framework operational and repeatable.
Improved audit readiness and cyber insurance confidence.
Experience & Capability
Required
8–12+ years in IT leadership roles.
Experience managing multi‑site environments.
Demonstrated cyber security framework implementation (Essential Eight preferred).
Vendor and MSP management experience.
Experience in professional services or regulated environments.
Highly Regarded
Experience in accounting, financial services or AFSL environments.
Exposure to automation and AI implementation.
