Do you like to develop electronic and electrotechnical solutions, contribute innovative approaches and work in a structured way? Do you want to support scientists in technical tasks and measurements – both in the laboratory and during multi‑week, international, aircraft‑based measurement campaigns on climate and environmental issues? Responsibilities
- Support the scientists in the assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical/electronic components, devices and measurement instruments.
- Further develop microcontroller‑based control systems and design new systems for control and data acquisition, including the design and assembly of printed circuit boards.
- Lay out power supplies and wire devices and sensors; select suitable components and order them.
- Support the aerosol group in IT tasks.
- Support monitoring of the measurement instruments and data collection during multi‑week measurement campaigns with research aircraft abroad, cooperating with international partner institutions.
- Support the ongoing operation of the laboratory (calibration, maintenance and spare parts management/orders).
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
Requirements
- HTL Matura plus relevant professional experience (ideally HTL engineer) or equivalent education (e.g., State‑certified technician (D) or relevant degree (Bachelor)) with a focus on electrical engineering/(micro‑)electronics or similar.
- Experience in the design, implementation and layout of microcontroller systems, including PCBs from circuit diagram to prototype.
- Very good knowledge of English (C1+).
- Willingness to travel internationally for measurement campaigns in the USA and other countries with a typical duration of several weeks.
- Reliable, regular presence in the laboratory on site in Vienna.
- Ability to work in a structured, goal‑oriented and independent manner.
- Ability to work in a team and flexibility in the area of responsibility.
- Capability to participate in research flights.
- Class B driving licence.
- Knowledge of common interfaces and protocols.
- Experience with 3D printing and CAD programs.
- Ability to improvise.
- Experience with measurement campaigns (especially aircraft measurements).
- Knowledge of German or willingness to acquire is an advantage.
