Staff Backend Engineer (m/f/d) at Finmatics

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimise our backend architecture, lead the creation of scalable, high‑quality software, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration with frontend and other system components.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and microservices.
* Drive technical decisions and define best practices for backend architecture.
* Implement clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following industry best practices.
* Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to develop integrated solutions.
* Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
* Ensure a high level of security and data protection.
* Utilise cloud technologies and DevOps tools to streamline development and deployment processes.
* Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentor junior developers.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 5+ years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years in a tech leadership or similar role.
* Proficiency in at least one backend‑related programming language and one scripting language (Python highly preferred).
* Expertise in backend development and cloud architectures.
* Proficient in developing and deploying microservices in distributed environments with a strong understanding of DevOps principles.
* Practical experience with Event‑Driven Architectures and Systems.
* Proven experience with NoSQL and RDBMS databases.
* Strong understanding of modern data science principles and tools.
Nice to Have
* Experience with full‑stack development.
* Proficiency in two backend‑related programming languages.
* Expertise in DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience coaching and developing junior team members.
