An established and highly regarded energy storage business is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking a commercially driven General Manager to lead expansion across Australia.
This organisation delivers advanced energy storage solutions across residential, off-grid and commercial applications, partnering with leading global technology brands and providing deep technical expertise to its installer and project partners. With strong foundations, trusted supplier relationships and an excellent market reputation, the business is now focused on accelerating growth, expanding market share and building a scalable operating platform.
This is not a steady-state leadership role. It is a mandate to grow.
The Opportunity
The General Manager will be accountable for driving revenue expansion, increasing market penetration (particularly within the commercial and industrial segment), and strengthening profitability.
You will inherit a capable team and solid operational platform. Your mandate is to sharpen the commercial edge, build a high-performance sales engine, and position the business for sustained, scalable growth.
This role suits a leader who thrives on building momentum - identifying opportunity, winning work and converting strategy into measurable commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute an ambitious growth strategy across commercial and distributed energy markets
Expand into new customer segments, geographies and channel partnerships
Translate market intelligence into actionable investment and expansion initiatives
Strengthen market positioning and competitive differentiation
Lead the commercial agenda with a strong focus on pipeline development and conversion
Personally engage in key accounts, major bids and strategic negotiations
Establish clear revenue targets, sales disciplines and performance accountability
Build strategic partnerships that unlock repeatable workstreams

Commercial Performance & P&L Ownership

Full P&L responsibility with a focus on revenue scale and margin expansion
Drive disciplined pricing, contract structuring and risk management
Lead forecasting, budgeting and cashflow management
Continuously optimise cost structures and delivery models to enhance competitiveness
Design and implement an operating model capable of supporting sustained growth
Ensure systems, governance and processes scale with volume and complexity
Balance speed to market with delivery excellence, safety and quality
Strengthen supplier relationships and build long-term strategic partnerships

Leadership & Culture

Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team
Build commercial capability and leadership depth across the organisation
Recruit and structure the business to support expansion
Foster a results-oriented culture built on accountability and ownership

Board & Stakeholder Engagement

Partner closely with the Board to align growth strategy with shareholder objectives
Provide transparent reporting on performance, risks and opportunities
Represent the business with customers, suppliers, financiers and industry stakeholders

Profile
About You
You are a commercially aggressive, growth-oriented leader who has built businesses - not just operated them.
You bring:

Senior leadership experience (GM, MD, Business Unit Head or similar) within renewables, energy or project-based environments
A proven track record of delivering revenue and margin growth
Strong sales and commercial leadership capability, including direct involvement in winning work
Demonstrated P&L ownership in a scaling or growth environment
High credibility with customers, boards and senior stakeholders

Experience within energy storage, renewables or distributed energy markets will be highly regarded, as will exposure to private ownership or growth-focused boards.
Success in the Role Will Be Defined By:

Increased market penetration within commercial energy markets
Strong win rates across targeted opportunities
A scalable and repeatable operating model
A high-performing, commercially minded leadership team
