Your future responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced scientist leading the development of ion-traps and their applications at SAL. You will become part of a highly motivated, international team committed to building up a European pilot line for ion-trap chips (ITCs) realizing the building blocks of next generation quantum technology. Your work will be embedded in an international collaborative network.
Your tasks include:
* Establishment of infrastructure and set‑ups for testingand operation ofion trap devices and development of ion trap systems for Quantum technology applications.
* Coordination and alignment ofinternal efforts and activitieswith industrialand academic partnersin thepilot line.
* Contribution to design, simulation and characterizationofnewion trap chips.
* Dissemination,communicationand reporting ofresearch findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
* Supervision of students.
* Activities in relevant networks.
* Project management.
* Project and funding acquisition.
Your profile
* PhDinphysics,quantum technology, electronics engineering or similar
* 3+ years of experience in trapped-ion quantum technology
* Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing is an advantage
* Experience in industrial environment is an a dvantage .
* Proficiency in English. German or willingness to learn is an asset.
* Motivated team player with good communication skills.
* Personnel management experience is an advantage
* Willingness to relocate to Austria/Villach.
* Willingness to travel.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group F (F1 salary = EUR 4.757,- paid 14 times a year, based on 38,5 hours per week). For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum gross salary of EUR 70.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).
