The Clinical Research Institute for Inflammation Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Johannes Kepler University Linz, invites applications for a full-time University Assistant position (Postdoctoral level) with the opportunity to establish an independent junior research group. This six-year position is part of a targeted initiative to promote the development of basic research and to establish six Young Research Groups in pioneering medical fields.
The successful candidate will conduct independent research in inflammation medicine, lead a junior research group supported by two PraeDocs, and contribute to the academic activities of the institute. The Clinical Research Institute for Inflammation Medicine focuses on chronic and acute inflammatory processes and infections, working at the interface of basic research and clinical application to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct independent research within the fields of the Clinical Research Institute for Inflammation Medicine.
– Establish and manage a junior research group (with two PraeDoc positions).
– Participate in ongoing research activities of the institute.
– Contribute to teaching at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
– Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
– Participate in academic self-administration.
Requirements
– Completed doctorate/Ph.D. in medicine, natural sciences, or a related field.
– Experience in developing and leading an independent research program in inflammation medicine.
– Initial experience in securing competitive third-party funding.
– Demonstrated teaching skills and experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
– International research experience.
– Publications in leading (inter)national peer-reviewed journals.
– Excellent command of German and English (C1 level in both languages).
