Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies, supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage marine and terrestrial environments through nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.
The Division of Human Health is organized into four Sections whose objectives are to enhance the capabilities of Member States to address needs related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health problems through the development and application of nuclear techniques within a framework of quality assurance.
Main Purpose
Under the supervision of the Divisional Director, the Project Implementation Officer serves as focal point for coordinating and implementing NAHU critical projects (St Jude operations) under the Rays of Hope Initiative, within the planned timelines and assigned budget. Contributes to the coordination and optimization of projects and processes within the Division and assists in analysis, review of various reports and correspondence, monitors allocated budgets, reports and provides analytical support on tasks implemented.
Role
The Project Implementation Officer is: (1) a team member, preparing, reviewing, and maintaining detailed work plans and schedules of project activities, developing and maintaining tools for tracking project resource allocation, monitoring status of activities, and contributing to the preparation of project reports; (2) a coordinator providing input and support and developing expertise to ensure successful project implementation; (3) a liaison with technical subject matter experts and other stakeholders fostering collaboration between departments/offices and external stakeholders.
Functions / Key Results Expected
* In close collaboration with the team, providing technical assistance to the Division on project development and delivery, identifying and implementing approaches and techniques to achieve project targets
* Creating a detailed project plan identifying and sequencing its activities and including a schedule that effectively allocates available resources
* Executing and coordinating implementation according to the project plan, documenting project activities and ensuring that all project information is appropriately filed and secured.
* Acting as focal point of contact for key external bodies as well as other IAEA stakeholders (such as TC, NACA, OLA). Preparing presentations for governing bodies like the CCRA and works with other departments on funding proposals. Acting as coordinator for working group activities
* Monitoring budgeted project expenditures in consultation with the AA and Sections ensuring that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality. Contributing to resource mobilization activities, proposing activities/projects requiring additional funding and identifying funding options
* Evaluating, consolidating and disseminating technical project information among project team members and counterparts, supporting the team in the implementation of technical project activities and the development of final reports
* Conducting analysis and proposing solutions and recommendations for issues identified in the course of work. Assessing progress towards the achievement of project results in line with quality management standards.

Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration, International Relations, Project Management, or related field.
Minimum of five years of working experience in project management
Experience in coordinating programmatic activities related to education and training
Experience in coordination of institutional networks
Experience in drafting and consolidating briefing notes as well as reporting
Interpersonal skills: Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external counterparts and to work as a team player in a multicultural/multidisciplinary environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
