The Institute of Public Health, Medical Decision Making and Health Technology Assessment (Head: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Uwe Siebert) of the Department of Public Health, Health Services Research and Health Technology Assessment is currently seeking to appoint a:
Senior Post-Doc Scientist / Assistant Professor /Associate Professor in the field of Causal Inference and Health Data Science
to commence as soon as possible and initially limited to three years in full-time or part-time (100%, 75% or 50%); an extension is possible and is being sought.
The position is associated with the EUCanScreen project and other research projects in the field of health-decision science and initially limited to three years. An extension is possible.
The general objective of EUCanScreen is "to assure sustainable implementation of high-quality screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer as well as implementation of the recently recommended screening programs – for lung, prostate and gastric cancers. EUCanScreen will facilitate the reduction of cancer burden and achieving equity across the EU." Subprojects at UMIT TIROL have a strong focus on ensuring full implementation of evidence-based, cost-effective and quality-assured screening programs for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers and preparation for further implementation of evidence-based cost-effective and quality-assured screening programs including lung and prostate cancers.
Your tasks:
* Participate in national and international research projects in the field of Causal Inference at the Institute, including the Institute's EU Horizon Projects (UNCAN, PREMIO COLLAB, EUCanScreen, 4D PICTURE, RECETAS, CATALYZE, MOUNTADAPT)
* Independently develop research ideas, studies and methodological approaches at the interface of the fields of causal inference, epidemiology and health data science
* Prepare of project reports for various EU projects
* Provide subject-matter advice to the team on causal inference, epidemiology, health data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and modelling/simulation
* Provide subject-matter advice to the team in the field of causal inference, epidemiology, health data science, machine learning and modelling
* Author and co-author scientific publications
* Contribute to the preparation of third-party funding applications
* Participate in the organization and delivery of teaching in Health Data Science and related disciplines, the UMIT TIROL Academy program, and in further educational activities
Your profile:
* Completed university degree (Masters's, Doctorate or equivalent) / Habilitation
* Several years of professional experience and excellent knowledge in the fields of causal inference, epidemiology, (bio-)statistics and health data science
* Proven programming skills and practical experience in the application of causal inference methods (e.g., directed acyclic graphs, target trial emulation, cloning-censoring-weighting, causal discovery)
* Good knowledge of decision-analytical modelling for benefit-harm-cost analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
* Extensive experience analyzing datasets (e.g., cohort/registry studies, secondary data, real-world data, electronic health records)
* Research experience in Digital Health and/or Artificial Intelligence is an advantage
* Excellent written and oral English skills
* High motivation, strong analytical and conceptual thinking, individual initiative, interest in interdisciplinary work, and strong team and communication skills

The annual salary is based on UMIT TIROL's remuneration scheme and amounts to at least EUR 44.800,- (Post-Doc, full-time) or at least EUR 56.000,- (Associate Professor, full-time). Overpayment is possible depending on qualifications and experience.
