University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

At the Institute of Materials Chemistry, in the Research Group for Molecular Materials Chemistry TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant post‑doc (all genders) limited to expected 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: December 2025.


Tasks

* Conduct research in one or more of the following areas: synthesis of MOFs/COFs, structural characterization of materials, catalysis, biomedicinal applications, or optoelectronic/electrochemical sensing.
* Prepare and coordinate competitive grant applications.
* Maintain a funding calendar, scan the funding landscape, establish and maintain networks with funding agencies and industry partners.
* Manage and coordinate research projects, including reporting and communication with funding agencies.
* Translate research into compelling narratives for expert and non‑expert audiences (web stories, news items, feature articles).
* Manage the lab’s social media, coordinate website updates, and outreach activities.
* Support events, media briefings, and stakeholder engagement related to research dissemination.
* Contribute to teaching and supervision of students.
* Oversee laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, safety, and resource management.
* Assist in administrative and organizational duties within the research group and department.


Your Profile

* PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science (or a related field).
* Strong background in one or more areas: synthesis, structural characterization, catalysis, biomedicine, or optoelectronics.
* Proven success in scientific writing and proposal preparation; familiarity with funder guidelines (e.g. FWF, DFG, EU/ERC) and industry‑oriented schemes (e.g. FFG, CD labs).
* Previous work experience interacting with funding agencies and building/maintaining partnerships with industry.
* Portfolio of science writing (e.g., press releases, web features, newsletters, white papers) with clear, audience‑tailored messaging.
* Experience planning and managing social media for research or academic organizations; comfort with content scheduling and basic analytics/SEO.
* Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to liaise with PIs, tech transfer, and media relations.
* Experience in teaching and/or supervising students, ideally experience in promoting young scientists.
* English language skills at C1 level; German language skills are an advantage.
* Desirable: familiarity with CMS tools (e.g., WordPress/Typo3), basic data visualization, and open‑science/FAIR practices.

The entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
