AustrianStartups is on the lookout for a Communications Lead who will take our voice to the next level. You will be the driving force behind our social media channels, shape our PR strategy, and grow our unique content formats such as the Startup Melange Newsletter and the Future Weekly Podcast .
Your mission: establish AustrianStartups as a true thought leader in entrepreneurship and ensure that the message “startups are key to Austria’s future, growth & prosperity” reaches far beyond the startup bubble.
The ideal candidate is a talented communicator with a feel for storytelling, media dynamics, and the right dose of creativity.
Who we are
AustrianStartups is the leading non-profit platform and think tank for startups and innovative entrepreneurship in Austria. Together with our 30,000 supporters, we are working towards a future in which everybody believes they can have an impact with their entrepreneurial ideas.
Over the past 13 years, we have inspired more than 160,000 people across our channels, connected more than 20,000 event visitors, started Austria’s biggest entrepreneurship project for schools and published Austria’s largest startup study – the Austrian Startup Monitor. With your help, we aim to change Austria’s entrepreneurial culture sustainably and for the better!
What you will be doing
* Shape AustrianStartups’ voice: Manage all social media channels with a strong focus on thought leadership, creating content that inspires, informs, and positions us as the go-to voice on entrepreneurship in Austria.
* Drive our PR efforts: Build and nurture relationships with journalists & media outlets, write press releases, and proactively bring the relevance of startups into the public debate.
* Evolve our media formats: Further develop and grow our newsletter Startup Melange and podcast Future Weekly into must-follow formats for the ecosystem.
* Craft narratives: Translate complex startup & policy topics into compelling stories and clear messages that resonate with founders, policymakers, and the public alike.
* Stay ahead of the curve: Spot trends, experiment with new formats, and keep our communications creative, fresh, and impactful.
What we are looking for
* Creative, curious, and open-minded personality with a passion for entrepreneurship
* Excellent communication skills (written & spoken), both online & offline
* Proven affinity for social media content creation & community building
* Experience or strong interest in PR & media relations
* Structured way of working combined with flexibility & a hands-on mentality
* Ideally experience with photo and video editing tools
* Fluency in both English & German
* Long-term commitment
