Senior Lecturer Visual Effects (w/m/x)
Campus Urstein, FH Salzburg – Position in full time within the Bachelor and Master programs MultiMediArt and Realtime Arts & Visual Effects in Department Creative Technologies.
Responsibilities
* Teaching in foundation and advanced courses in computer animation and animation & film history in the Bachelor program MultiMediaArt and the Master program Realtime Art & Visual Effects up to 16 academic units (including English)
* Co‑ordination and development of courses and teaching materials in the Animation field
* Supervision of scholarly works and student projects
* Participation in acquisition and execution of (research) projects related to the program
* Academic and organisational contribution to the program and support qualitative development of the Bachelor and Master programmes
* Development and maintenance of corporate and business contacts (co‑operations, projects, internships)
Profile
* Completed university degree (Diploma, Master) in Animation or Film; a relevant PhD is an advantage
* Relevant practical experience and in‑depth knowledge in several of the following areas:
o Visual Effects production
o 3D Motion Design
o Procedural workflows with Side Effects Houdini
o Realtime workflows with Unreal Engine (advantage)
o Project coaching and mentoring
o Theoretical competence and teaching experience in Film theory, Visual Effects theory, image & film analysis, storytelling and scriptwriting
* Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience outside higher education (at least 50% full‑time equivalence over three years)
* Significant teaching experience at university level
* Research experience and publications are an advantage
* Pedagogical‑didactic competence
* Excellent practical skills and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings
* Excellent German and English language skills
* Sensitivity and mindfulness in dealing with diversity
* High communicative and social competence
Offer
* 40 academic hours per week / teaching load 16 academic hours
* Location: Campus Urstein
* Start: September 2026
* Salary: starting at €67,942 gross per annum at 40 hours (adjusted for qualification and experience)
* Title: FH‑Professor/FH‑Professorin awarded in an independent academic procedure by the FH‑Collegium.
