Your client is seeking a Production Manager – Structural Steel Fabrication
Join our client, a respected Australian steel fabrication company, and lead a skilled team using modern CNC and robotic technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence production systems, drive continuous improvement, and lead a team in a fast‑paced workshop environment.
What you’ll be doing?
Lead a Team: Mentor and manage a team of 50+ workshop personnel, fostering a high-performance culture.
Optimise Workflow: Develop and implement productivity and workflow standards to meet cost and schedule targets.
Manage Machinery: Oversee CNC and NC machinery, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
Ensure Compliance: Guarantee adherence to safety procedures, welding standards, and Australian quality requirements.
Coordinate Activities: Align fabrication, assembly, and subcontractor activities to support timely project delivery.
Monitor Progress: Track production progress, prepare reports, and collaborate with QA/QC teams to manage inspection programs.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Project Management teams for seamless project execution.
Plan and Optimise: Plan, manage, and optimise the use of robotic welding systems to improve efficiency and consistency.
Who are they looking for?
Mechanical Engineering: A Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant trade background is essential.
Experience: 10‑15 years in structural steel fabrication, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Technical Knowledge: Advanced technical knowledge of CNC fabrication processes, robotic welding, and Australian standards.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, production planning, workflow optimisation, and cost‑management skills.
Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required for effective communication within the team and with clients.
