Overview
The position is based in the research group “Sustainable Catalysis” and is intended to strengthen research activities in this field and contribute to teaching in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate starts as an Assistant Professor with a six-year fixed-term tenure phase. Upon successful completion of qualification goals, the position will be converted into a permanent Associate Professor position. The research core area is in sustainable catalysis (homogeneous/heterogeneous) for plastics recycling and upcycling, aligned with circular bio-based and plastics economy concepts. The candidate is expected to collaborate within the Department of Chemistry and the University’s Field of Excellence Climate Change Graz, as well as with partners in the interuniversity NAWI Graz project.
Employment Requirements
* Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD) in Chemistry or Materials Science
* Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching relevant to the professorship profile (commensurate with stage of career and interruptions due to caring responsibilities)
* Several years of experience as post-doc or in a similar position
* Skills in attracting subject-specific project grants
* Skills in higher education didactics including the use of digital media
* Gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills
* Outstanding research trajectory and publication activity (commensurate with stage of career and interruptions due to caring responsibilities)
* Proven motivation for autonomous research and ability to build an independent research profile in the field “Catalysis for Plastics Recycling and Upcycling”
* Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written); willingness to teach in German
* An international profile demonstrated by professional experience abroad
* Leadership and team management skills
* Ability to conduct collaborative research activities

He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.
