Job Description Summary
We are looking for a motivated HTL student (m/f/d) who would like to complete their diploma thesis in cooperation with GE Healthcare. This approx. 8‑week internship focuses on an automation or digitalization topic with measurable Value Creation Productivity (VCP) impact. While the exact topic will be defined together with the student and their supervising teacher, the project will contribute directly to improving efficiency, quality, or digital workflows within our production environment.
Responsibilities
* Collaboration in defining the diploma thesis topic in automation, digitalization, or production IT
* Analysis of existing processes, tools, or workflows to identify improvement potential with clear VCP relevance
* Support in designing and developing technical concepts, prototypes, or small digital tools (e.g., dashboards, automation scripts, workflow digitization)
* Partial implementation of selected solution components suitable for the 8‑week project scope
* Documentation of findings and results for both the HTL diploma thesis and internal stakeholders
* Optional evaluation of alternative technologies, available market solutions, and innovative or non‑traditional approaches
* Support in basic testing, validation, or optimization activities
* Participation in meetings with engineering, production, and technical specialists
Possible Topic Directions
* Automation of simple production or documentation steps
* Digitalization of workflow elements with measurable productivity impact
* Development of lightweight tools for monitoring, reporting, or operator support
* Data collection, transformation, or visualization for improved decision‑making
* Integration or evaluation of sensors, microcontrollers, or low‑complexity automation hardware
* Assessment of modern software or low‑code/no‑code solutions for production use
Qualifications
* Current HTL student (m/f/d) in Mechatronics, Electronics, Information Technology, Automation, Mechatronics/Robotics, or a comparable technical discipline
* Interest in working on a real‑world digitalization or automation challenge with measurable business impact
* Basic knowledge in programming, automation technology, digital tools, databases, or data analysis (depending on topic)
* Analytical mindset and structured way of working
* Ability to independently document project results for diploma thesis purposes
* Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with technical teams
* Availability for an approx. 8‑week internship
