Tasks
The objective of this work is to design and implement a surrogate test to investigate the damage behavior of lithium-ion cells during thermal runaway. Based on previously conducted cell tests, the mechanical and thermal stresses caused by the cells will be analytically determined. A test setup will then be developed that realistically simulates the stresses caused by gas and particle release from the cell and is variably adjustable. After commissioning, the test setup will be validated using various material tests and compared with results from cell tests.
These tasks include, in particular:
Research into thermal runaway of lithium-ion cellsAnalysis of the damage mechanisms of materials during thermal runawayDesign and constructive implementation of a surrogate test setup to model the damage behavior of thermal runawayCommissioning and conducting tests with different material samplesOptimization and evaluation of the damage behavior of the test bench under different boundary conditionsComparison with other surrogate tests and single-cell testsFor more detail, salary and company information, use the apply link
