As Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer of WUIB, this position is a member of the Management Board ("Geschäftsleiter Marktfolge" under Austrian banking law), ensuring the company complies with European and Austrian banking regulations. As Chief Risk Officer this role is responsible for the identification, analysis, and mitigation of internal and external risks in accordance with the respective Austrian and European banking regulations, with full consideration of risks involved and that those risks are managed proactively. Specifically, this includes the development of the risk management strategy, the categorization and evaluation of the company's risk profile, the implementation of processes, tools and systems to identify, assess, measure and mitigate risks to the company. In the context of risk mitigation, the CRO will – among other things - oversee the establishment of internal controls and early warning systems across the organization. The role oversees the current risk teams that manage strategic risk, fraud risk, credit risk and non-financial risk (including internal controls, operational risk and outsourcing oversight).

Role requirements:

* Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management strategy & framework that aligns with the company's strategic objectives and risk appetite.

* Work collaboratively with respective Western Union subsidiaries for understanding emerging risks and proper assessment of current risks.

* Identify, assess, and prioritize all risks across the organization, including credit, market, liquidity, fx, operational, strategic, and compliance risks.

* Ensure risk-oriented lending practices in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., BWG, CRR, MaRisk). Supervise risk analysis, including evaluation of documents, collateral, and overall exposure.

* Develop and oversee the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and action plans to minimize potential negative impacts on the organization.

* Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Establish and maintain risk management policies and procedures.

* Support executive management and board of directors in its review and approval of the risk governance framework, including risk appetite, defining risk appetite statements, risk tolerance, key risk indicators. Support collection of risks and reporting of key risks, trends, and mitigation strategies and objectives to stakeholders at all levels.

* Lead the development and implementation of an enterprise risk management framework to integrate risk management practices across all business units and functions.

* Act as representative or chair on specific risk management committees to support governance and communication on risks to organization.

* Establish overall bank controlling ("Gesamtbanksteuerung") reflecting bank specific calculation and governance requirements (e.g. detailed contribution margin calculation incl. liquidity, risk, and capital cost)

* Performs all duties inherent in a leadership role.

* Represents the bank towards external stakeholders.

* Leads the bank in compliance to and accordance with Austrian and European (banking) laws and standards (Geschäftsleiter Marktfolge)

* Provides guidance, planning, and direction for functional units they support.

* Ensure that the company is in compliance with its internal operating policies and procedures and any external legal, regulatory or contractual requirements and identifies risks that may impact the company's profitability or cause a financial loss.

* Foster a risk-aware corporate culture

* Optimize and digitize back-office processes to enhance efficiency

* Board, Sub-Committee and Management Reporting for legal entities under your responsibility, including Financial Performance, Financial Position, Regulatory Compliance, Risks, Control Environment and Resourcing, and Outsourcing

* Ensure compliance with Austrian and European (banking) law, bank accounting and bank-related fiscal stipulations for entities under responsibility

Role responsibilities:

* 10+ years In-depth experience in the areas of banking risk management and risk controlling. 7+ years of leadership in a banking environment 5+ years risk experience

* University degree in business and/or laws

* Sound and broad experience in risk management in a banking environment, ideally across the different business segments and risk categories

* Deeply advanced regulatory knowledge mandatoey

* Preferably dedicated management and leadership training for banks ("Geschäftsleiter Marktfolge")

* Fit & proper according to Austrian and European banking regulations and standards
