Overview
As a PCF Validation Specialist, you will ensure that the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data we receive from our suppliers is accurate, reliable, and compliant with our sustainability standards. By collaborating closely with suppliers, internal departments, and external experts, you will play a crucial role in enabling transparent and robust carbon reporting to support our ambitious net-zero targets. This role combines data validation, consulting, and process development to ensure that the right information is available at the right time.
Responsibilities
* Validate PCF data from both existing and new suppliers to secure reliable data for reporting to Global Sustainability.
* Conduct sense-checks and audits following a risk-based approach and the 4-eye principle, reviewing methodologies, data sources, and calculation processes to ensure credibility and reliability.
* Assess the transparency and robustness of the methods used by suppliers, cross-reference data with industry standards and benchmarks, and confirm that all relevant emissions scopes (Scope 1, 2, and 3) are correctly accounted for.
* Provide guidance and support to internal departments and suppliers regarding PCF optimization measures and their impact on carbon footprint reduction.
* Develop and implement standardized processes for assessing supplier data in collaboration with Global Procurement, Global Sustainability, and other stakeholders.
* Ensure suppliers, co-packers, and partners comply with company guidelines and, where necessary, translate reporting standards into market- or supplier-specific guidelines.
* Guide and, if needed, directly support main suppliers in achieving robust and reliable PCF calculation processes.
* Coordinate with external experts to carry out data validation when external expertise is required.
* Share knowledge with internal teams and operational roles to embed best practices in PCF validation across the organization.
* Travel 10-20% as part of the role.
Qualifications
* A university degree in Environmental or Bioresources Management, Nutritional Sciences, Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Technical Chemistry, Process Engineering, or a related field.
* Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is highly beneficial.
* Hands-on experience in calculating and validating Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
* Solid understanding of quality processes and compliance, ideally in the food and beverage industry or a related sector.
* A collaborative team player with strong consulting skills and the ability to build effective relationships in an international environment.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
