Your Role Key responsibilities in your new role Installation: Set up a cryostat and install electronics and optics to trap ions and build up a testing environment for ion-trap chips. Characterization: Measure the performance of the ion trap tester in terms of cooling rate, vibrations, minimum heating rates and coherence time. Write a master's thesis: Summarize your findings in a thesis while examining the state of the art and comparing your results Further Information: Type of employment: Temporary / Full-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.) Duration: min. 12 months Your Profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed Education: Pursuing a Master's degree in Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field, with strong academic results Knowledge and technical skills: Proficient in Python or similar, with knowledge of quantum optics as a plus Hands-on experience: Basic competence in working in a lab environment, and preferred experience in CAD programs Organizational skills: Ability to manage time effectively, independently structure research and writing processes, and a mindset motivated to explore new topics Teamwork: capable of working effectively in an international team Language skills: Fluent in English, German is a plus This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2025.pdf).
