INDIRECT BUYER (m/f/d)
The selected candidate will act as the single point of contact for key suppliers, driving negotiations of commercial terms across multiple locations. In this role, s/he will develop and execute sourcing strategies for critical material and non-material categories, lead supplier selection and contracting, and collaborate closely with engineering, logistics, and production to align on business needs. This role carries full authority to define and implement sourcing strategies across assigned categories, including commercial responsibility for supplier selection, negotiations, and contract finalization. You will drive cost optimization, approve sourcing plans within defined thresholds, and lead cross‑functional teams while representing procurement in key decision bodies.
Working with the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) organizations, among the others, our Indirect Buyer will have the following responsibilities:
* Own the sourcing strategy and supplier panel for assigned categories
* Achieve proactive and reactive cost, quality, and delivery performance targets
* Ensure early supplier involvement in product development projects
* Drive supplier negotiations in alignment with commercial targets
* Maintain supplier relationship management and lead business reviews
* Identify and manage supply risks and ensure continuity of supply
* Report sourcing status, KPIs, and risks to management regularly
* Align purchasing strategy with product lifecycle, volume planning, and sustainability goals
* Support Category Lead in strategy development
* Support capacity management if requested
Qualifications
* Strong and proven negotiation skills
* Degree in business, engineering, or supply chain management
* 2 to 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management
* Proven track record in direct or indirect material negotiations
* Knowledge of commodities and cost drivers
* Experience working with international suppliers and multi‑site operations
* Fluent German and strong English skills; additional languages are a plus
* Familiar with SAP or similar ERP systems
* Confident communicator and relationship builder in various cultures
* Willingness to travel for supplier visits or project coordination

The minimum salary for this position is EUR 60 962.32 gross per year according to the very attractive collective agreement of the metal industry. An overpayment is possible, depending on your qualifications and experience.
