Overview
Service Operations-Engineer – Focus Monitoring (m/f/d) at A1 Telekom Austria AG. Join a small, experienced operations team keeping critical infrastructure observable, reliable, and efficient. Your main expertise will be in monitoring — designing, improving, and fine-tuning how we track system health and performance — but you’ll also contribute to wider infrastructure operations when needed.
Location: Vienna (hybrid)
What you’ll work on
* Operating and improving our monitoring stack: Icinga2, Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, Influx, Elasticsearch/Kibana, ServiceNow integration.
* Helping requestors shape their needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
* Assessing platforms and environments for scalability, stability, and long-term fit.
* Preparing lightweight decision options, effort estimates, simple diagrams, or short-term roadmaps when needed.
* Participating in the on-call rotation once onboarded.
What you bring
* Strong Linux administration skills (we run 99% Linux).
* Experience with at least one of our monitoring tools (Icinga2, Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager) and willingness to learn the rest quickly.
* Ability to write or adapt small scripts (Bash/Python) for checks, automation, or integrations.
* Communication skills to work with stakeholders who may not fully know what they need, and patience to guide them.
* Understanding of how to weigh effort, impact, and ROI when suggesting solutions.
* English fluency (German a plus).

Performance-based-salary models reward extraordinary commitment and success. The minimum annual gross salary according to the collective agreement of Telekom Austria AG is EUR 49,502.74. The actual annual salary depends on your skills and experience.
