We have a vacancy for an Service Manager tojoin Power Systems Australia based out of our head office in Laverton North, VIC.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Service Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and service operations of Power generators. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, proven leadership skills, and a strong understanding of generator systems and customer service. This role involves managing a team of service technicians, ensuring high-quality service delivery, scheduling, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Supervise and lead a team of service technicians and field engineers.
* Plan, coordinate, and schedule service, maintenance, and repair work for diesel generators across client sites.
* Troubleshoot complex generator issues and support technicians in field diagnostics.
* Maintain detailed service records and ensure accurate job reporting and documentation.
* Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
* Communicate with customers to assess their needs, provide technical support, and resolve complaints.
* Monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, and service equipment, and coordinate with procurement for timely replenishment.
* Train, mentor, and evaluate service team members to improve skills and performance.
* Ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery while maintaining quality standards.
* Analyse service metrics and develop strategies to improve service efficiency and customer satisfaction.
* Collaborate with sales and project teams to support pre-sales and after-sales service requirements.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience (5+ years) in servicing and managing operations related to diesel generators or similar power systems.
* Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
* Strong knowledge of diesel engine mechanics, control panels, ATS systems, and load testing procedures.
* Previous supervisory or management experience in a service-related role.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
* Proficiency with service management software and MS Office Suite.
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
Preferred Skills:
* OEM certifications (e.g., Cummins, CAT, Perkins, Kohler, FG Wilson) are a strong advantage.
* Experience working in industrial, commercial, or critical power sectors (e.g., hospitals, data centres).
* Familiarity with ISO standards and preventive maintenance programs.
Working Conditions:
* Office-based with frequent visits to client sites and field locations.
* May involve working in outdoor or confined environments.
* Occasional after-hours or emergency support may be required.
