RoleThe Senior Director of Marketing (Europe) is accountable for shaping and steering the European marketing strategy, delivering sustained competitive performance across Europe and ensuring flawless execution of the European marketing strategy.
We are looking for a results-driven individual to build and lead the marketing function across Europe. This role requires an influential, visionary leader who delivers measurable results while inspiring and directing cross-functional teams toward long-term success. You will lead the development and evolution of the European marketing strategy for our next-generation immuno-oncology product and serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, ensuring Europe plays a defining role in global decision-making. We seek a proactive individual with the mandate, credentials, and passion to both act and advise.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Performance
Build, lead, inspire, and elevate a high-performing team of European marketing, setting strategic priorities, ensuring clarity on outcomes, and building capabilities for long-term organizational success
Provide leadership across multiple functional areas, influencing broader company direction beyond the immediate marketing team
Strategic Execution & Impact
Develop, pressure-test, and execute a robust multi-year European marketing strategy, anticipating industry shifts and enabling the region to outperform competitors
Translate enterprise objectives into actionable regional strategies with significant impact on company performance
Launch Leadership
Oversee and direct the European brand plan and commercial execution strategy for the potential cutaneous melanoma launch, ensuring readiness across markets and alignment on all activities to deliver maximum impact and ROI
Global & Regional Influence
Act as the European Commercial voice within the Global Product Team, influencing global strategy, evidence generation priorities, and lifecycle plans based on regional insights
Lead collaboration across multiple global and regional functional areas to ensure alignment with long-range portfolio objectives
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, and other internal stakeholders at a senior level to ensure cohesive preparation and execution of the European strategy
Sales Growth
Shape and implement strategies and tactics that directly drive sales growth and market share, with a relentless focus on performance metrics
Opportunity Development
Identify, evaluate and quantify medium- and long-term opportunities for the brand, creating compelling business cases that support senior leadership investment decisions and growth
Customer Insight Generation
Generate actionable customer insights through market research and direct engagement with KOLs, HCPs, and other, and integrate them into forward-looking strategic decisions for commercial and clinical development
Performance, KPIs & Governance
Set, track, and communicate performance KPIs at regional and country level, using data-driven insights to guide senior leadership discussions and continuous improvement
Proactively anticipate performance risks and lead mitigation strategies across functional areas
Peer-to-Peer and Congress Excellence
Drive high-impact peer-to-peer initiatives and lead a best-in-class congress strategy, maximizing engagement and brand visibility
Agency and Resource Management
Provide senior oversight for agency partnerships, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and optimal resource allocation
Shape regional budget priorities and provide input into global commercial resource planning
Compliance and Integrity
Ensure all customer-facing activities are fully compliant with EFPIA, ABPI, Immunocore SOPs, and local regulations, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and documentation
Market Engagement
Represent the company at major European and global congresses to engage with key customers and drive commercial performance, serving as a key ambassador for the brand and the organization
Experience & knowledge
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
Oncology launch and commercialisation experience; Rare/Orphan experience also desired
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
Demonstrated strong strategic thinking with the ability to execute tactical plans
Strong relationship building, problem solving, innovative thinking, teamwork, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills
Curious and data driven mindset, constantly questioning assumptions and working with a sense of urgency to enable the delivery of the best care to patients with cancer
Collaborative with a strong desire to partner internally and externally to achieve shared goals
Strength managing complexity and multiple competing priorities
Ability to lead, influence, and work in a complex and cross-functional environment regardless of reporting structure
Ability to positively connect across multiple stakeholders, including experience of working with KOLs in multiple countries
Excellent communication and presentation skills to interface with external stakeholders, cross-functional partners, alliance partners, and senior management
Understanding of external laws, codes and company policies that apply to the healthcare industry (AFPIA, ABPI)
Demonstrated experience of third-party agency management. Managing multiple vendor projects with timelines and budget.
Fluent spoken and written English; additional languages (in particular: German and French) beneficial
International travel required, including the US
Desirable
Experience in melanoma market
Strong understanding of the European oncology landscape, including market trends.
Social and digital media experience
Experience of working with content management system, e.g., Veeva, with additional experience of the promotional and medical approval processes in the UK, and other European markets
Education & qualifications
Degree in life sciences (or equivalent experience). Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
Advanced Marketing qualifications. Master's in business administration (MBA) desirable
