We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Business Analyst to support a large-scale modernization program focused on migrating a legacy mainframe-based system to a modern Java architecture. The role combines deep analytical work, close collaboration with technical teams, and active involvement in the execution of a multi-year migration roadmap.

Project: Legacy Mainframe → Java Migration
Duration: Long-term program (planned until 2028)
Start Date: ASAP (no later than February)
Duration: Initial 12 months, with long-term extension until 2028
Workload: Full-time
Onsite Requirement: 1–2 days per month in Vienna, Austria
Project Language: German - MUST
Responsibilities
* Reengineering and functional analysis of an existing mainframe system within a Java-based target architecture
* Supporting the operational implementation of the migration roadmap
* Structured elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business and functional requirements, taking architectural constraints into account
* Close coordination with parallel reengineering initiatives, including:
o End-to-end process redesign
o System integration
o Architecture and migration streams
* Clarification and alignment of solution requirements with subject matter experts and software vendors
* Supporting error analysis, defect triage, and issue resolution during:
o Testing phases
o Production and post-go-live operations
Skills & Qualifications
* Several years of experience as an IT Business Analyst in complex reengineering or migration projects
* Strong hands-on knowledge of mainframe environments, including:
o Natural / DB2
o PL/1
o IBM z/OS
* Experience with Java-based migration projects and modern target architectures, including:
o Java
o MSSQL
o Quarkus
o JBeret
* Strong analytical thinking and structured documentation skills
* Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities
* Fluent German (mandatory, project language)
