Hiring: Data Scientist - Salzburg, Austria - Remote, 12 months initial contract.
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our growing analytics team, with a focus on supply chain optimisation. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy production-grade data science solutions that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve forecasting accuracy across our global supply chain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including supply chain operations, data engineering, and business stakeholders to translate complex business problems into scalable data-driven solutions. Must be based in Europe and have a setup or be open to setup own freelance company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and deploy end-to-end machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions for supply chain use cases (eg, demand forecasting, inventory optimisation, logistics planning).
2. Collaborate with data engineers to build robust data pipelines using Snowflake or Databricks.
3. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable insights.
4. Ensure models are production-ready, scalable, and maintainable.
5. Monitor and continuously improve model performance post-deployment.
6. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through compelling storytelling and visualisations.
7. Stay up to date with the latest trends in data science, supply chain analytics, and cloud technologies.
Required Qualifications
8. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field.
9. 3-7 years of experience in data science, preferably with a focus on supply chain or operations.
10. Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks is essential.
11. Strong understanding of machine learning, time series forecasting, and optimisation techniques.
12. Experience deploying models into production environments (eg, using MLflow, Airflow, or similar tools).
13. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
14. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
15. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
16. Experience with supply chain systems (eg, ERP, WMS, TMS).
17. Knowledge of MLOps best practices.
18. Familiarity with dashboarding tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
