SENIOR CLINICAL LECTURER (SCHOLARSHIP) IN GENERAL PRACTICE

Applications are invited from General Practitioners registered with the General Medical Council. This post is based in the Institute of Education in Healthcare and Medical Sciences, part of the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. The post holder will be part of a team with an international reputation in medical education, located on one of Europe's largest health campuses, offering a systems-based integrated approach to students.
The role provides excellent opportunities for developing medical education skills with outstanding facilities and a supportive environment within the School and university. The Institute is proud of its position ranking Aberdeen as the top UK medical school in the Guardian League Tables 2024, reflecting its student-centred approach.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated General Practitioner actively involved in the delivery, development, and enhancement of General Practice education within the University of Aberdeen’s MBChB programme. This 10% FTE appointment supports Year 1 and 2 teaching, with occasional contributions to Years 3-5 and the wider curriculum. It is an ideal opportunity for a practicing GP to influence early medical education, support future doctors, and contribute to the strategic aims of General Practice education at the university.
The candidate will be a core member of the General Practice and Community Medical Education (GPCME) team, working closely with Year 1 and 2 GP Leads. Responsibilities include direct teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and student selection.
Salary will be at the maximum point on the Clinical GP salary scale, 10% of £114,083 per annum, pro rata.
