We are looking for a visionary leader to guide our Applied AI and Analytics efforts within the Computational Innovation Team in Vienna, Austria. In this position, you will establish and mentor a team of specialists dedicated to advancing machine learning and AI approaches that enhance decision-making across the drug discovery continuum. Your group will work alongside computational biologists, data engineers, and therapeutic area experts to unlock value from diverse large-scale datasets, including disease models, patient records, and perturbation screens. By implementing and applying advanced analytical tools and models, your team will help deepen our understanding of disease mechanisms, support the identification of new therapeutic opportunities, and contribute to defining patient-relevant biomarkers, with a strong emphasis on oncology. This role offers the chance to shape a rapidly evolving capability, introduce state-of-the-art methodologies, and drive high-impact analytical solutions that accelerate our research and strengthen our discovery pipeline. Tasks & responsibilities Lead a team of scientists focused on applied AI/ML Stay at the forefront of AI/ML innovations and identify opportunities to apply novel methods in an agile, impactful manner Translate complex data into actionable hypotheses for target discovery, biomarker identification, patient stratification, and treatment effect prediction Collaborate closely with the Data Excellence team and computational cancer biologists to ensure seamless integration of AI-driven insights and tools Adapt and implement advanced analytical models to analyze multi-modal biological and clinical data Requirements Ph.D. or similar degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field Proven track record in applying AI/ML methods to biological or biomedical data Strong leadership skills with experience managing interdisciplinary teams Deep understanding of omics data, biomarker discovery, and translational research.
