Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". Within the Division of Human Health, the Nutritional and Health-Related Environmental Studies Section (NAHRES) aims to assist Member States in combating malnutrition by using nuclear techniques.
Main Purpose
The intern will support the maintenance and improvement of NAHRES global databases and educational initiatives, including the "Stable Isotope User Group" Community of Practice. Activities include meeting organization, data preparation, literature searches, outreach material preparation, and assistance with coordinated research projects.
Functions / Key Results Expected
* Support the NAHRES global databases in nutrition/educational initiatives.
* Assist in data preparation and analysis from the IAEA global databases, and support networking and learning activities.
* Prepare, implement, and report on meetings.
* Assist in the implementation of coordinated research projects and prepare new ones/education-related meetings.
* Conduct literature searches and collate data on nuclear technique applications in nutrition.
* Provide input for outreach material for the section.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Public Health Nutrition.
Qualifications and Experience
* University Degree in Nutrition, environmental sciences, community engagement, knowledge management, teaching, communications, or a related discipline.
* Knowledge in nutritional science gained during university studies.
* Experience in data management and analysis, or facilitating training or learning communities such as communities of practice.
* Experience in database management (asset).
* Experience in event planning, communication management or social media engagement (asset).
* Knowledge of R (asset); graphic design skills (Canva, PowerPoint) (asset).
* Experience in statistical analysis (asset); experience in learning development (asset).
Applicant Eligibility
* Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years old and have completed at least three years of full‑time studies at a university or equivalent institution toward a first degree.
* Candidates may apply up to one year after completing a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
* Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
* Good written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) an asset.
* Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
