MADEC Australia is a successful community owned not-for-profit and charitable organisation with a proud 50+ year history of providing relief to people experiencing poverty and/or distress. Employing around 180 staff across the country and with a turnover circa up to $200 million, MADEC delivers employment services, education and training, a Pacific labour mobility scheme and Indigenous programs.
Reporting to the National Manager – Corporate Services, the Quality and Risk Manager is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of MADEC’s risk management, compliance, safety and governance frameworks. This key role ensures that systems, policies and practices align with legislative, regulatory, contractual and ethical standards, while fostering proactive and consistent risk management across all business units.
Key responsibilities include:
leading and mentoring the Risk and Compliance Team, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities;
providing expert advice to the CEO, Board and Executive on governance, compliance and risk‑related matters;
overseeing compliance with all relevant legislative, contractual and accreditation requirements across state and federal jurisdictions;
building on the organisation’s internal audit capability and quality assurance processes to ensure ongoing compliance with standards and continuous improvement;
ensuring timely regulatory and contractual reporting and submissions to government agencies and funding bodies;
managing fraud and corruption prevention systems and implementing proactive risk mitigation strategies.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise risk management and governance frameworks, gained from substantial time in a senior risk, governance, safety or compliance leadership role. A strong understanding of legislative and regulatory environments (including WHS), privacy and corporate governance, and a well‑developed understanding of policy development, audit management and ethical compliance will also be required. Excellent communication skills, a collaborative leadership style and a desire for continuous improvement will aid success in the role as will the ability to interpret complex data and present insights clearly.
This position can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
