Lead all things compliance & risk at an exciting Crypto company
My client is an exciting Crypto project, working in Defi.
European Regulatory Leadership
* Lead the development and implementation of the firm's compliance framework across the EU/EEA
* Interpret and operationalize European crypto regulations, including MiCA
* Oversee licensing, registration, and passporting strategies within the EU
* Act as the primary point of contact with European regulators and national competent authorities
Financial Crime Compliance
* Oversee AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring programs
* Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments with a focus on European exposure and cross-border risks
Governance & Reporting
* Establish and maintain robust compliance governance structures across European entities
* Be a part of the senior management, updating your management board colleagues on regulatory risks, particularly within the EU landscape
* Lead regulatory audits, inspections, and inquiries across European jurisdictions
Product & Market Expansion
* Partner with product and legal teams to ensure compliance-by-design for EU market offerings
* Assess regulatory implications of new crypto products within Europe
* Support strategic expansion
Team Leadership
* Build and lead a distributed compliance team across Europe
* Promote a strong culture of compliance and regulatory awareness
* 10+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within traditional financial services, with the last years moving into FinTech / Crypto
* Deep expertise in European regulatory frameworks, including MiCA, AML directives, and financial crime compliance
* Strong understanding of blockchain technology and digital asset ecosystems, ideally work experience in Defi
* Proven experience working with European regulators and managing cross-border compliance programs
* Demonstrated leadership experience in scaling compliance functions
* Previous banking / TradFi experience needed
