"Molecular Biology and Sequencing Specialist"Employment: as Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA) VwGr IIIa (20 hours/week), Institute of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck, Austria, starting January 19, 2026.
Description: We are seeking a molecular biology technician with hands-on experience in sequencing technologies. The ideal candidate will be proficient in cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing workflows (e.g., Oxford Nanopore, Illumina, or similar platforms). Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and a passion for innovation in genomics are essential.Main responsibilities:
5. Molecular biology tasks
6. DNA sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore)
7. Management of user data
8. Procurement and disposal of consumables and chemicals
9. Data analysis and report preparation
Required qualifications:
10. High school diploma (Matura) or equivalent qualification
11. Training as a Technical Assistant (TA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), or Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or equivalent education
12. Skills in molecular biology (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR)
13. Willingness to work in the mornings (starting at 8:00 AM) is desirable
14. Teamwork skills
15. Ability to work independently
16. Organizational talent
Preferred qualifications:
17. Experience with DNA sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore)
