About RNIB
We’re the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and we’re here for everyone affected by sight loss. RNIB is a UK charity supporting almost two million people living with sight loss.
Role and Responsibilities
You will join the Eye Care Support Service (ECLO) at Chase Farm Hospital and provide emotional support, information and guidance face to face in hospital settings, remotely via digital platforms, and in community locations as required. Each day you will help people affected by sight loss identify their needs, access information and make informed choices to maintain their independence. Administrative tasks include creating and maintaining patient records across databases and using Microsoft 365 to support effective communication and service delivery.
What We Are Looking For
You will have proven experience delivering information and advice services, working directly with the people you support. You will be skilled at building and maintaining professional relationships with patients, clinicians and cross‑sector partners. Key qualities include excellent communication, initiative, and the ability to work with a wide range of partners. You will be based at Chase Farm Hospital, with occasional work at Barnet Hospital and Edgware Community Hospital as required. You should be confident working on your own initiative, highly organised, comfortable using IT systems, and have strong attention to detail and impeccable record keeping. You will also complete the RNIB & City University ‘Eye Clinic Support Studies’ qualification, essential for the role, with access to clinical supervision and peer support to support RNIB’s priority of “no diagnosis without support.”
What We Offer
RNIB offers a positive, progressive culture with benefits including 26 days of holiday per year (plus bank holidays) which rises with service, enhanced family-friendly benefits, a contributory pension scheme with an employer contribution of up to 11%, and a rewards platform with discounts across over 800 retailers.
