The Impact You’ll Make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.
What You’ll Do
Technical
* Participate in the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and test/validation of hardware associated with new semiconductor equipment.
* Design parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/platings. Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured according to performance and cost objectives.
* Ensure documentation complies with SEMI, Lam Standards, and other standards (ANSI, DIN, etc.), demonstrating knowledge and proper utilization of GD&T.
* Perform analytical work to characterize and specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics, and manufacturability.
* Develop and execute test plans to generate characterization data for understanding and validating design performance.
* Develop and present high-quality reports and presentations that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation during design reviews.
* Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure high-quality, well-tested, and cost-optimized solutions.
* Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and processes for handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts throughout the product lifecycle.
* Establish standards across operational processes.
* Prepare all required deliverables, such as FMEA, technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations.
Leadership
* Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resources.
Customer Relation
* Represent the company professionally to customers.
Who We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; or
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Excellent communication skills in English.
* Hands-on experimental and design background with solid engineering skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
* Experience in project management and problem solving while managing multiple priorities.
* Proficiency in CAD programs (Solid Edge, Siemens NX, or similar) and AutoCAD.
* Experience with PDM software (Team Center or similar).
* Knowledge of MS Office.

On-site Flex involves working on-site 3+ days per week with remote options, while Virtual Flex involves working on-site 1-2 days per week and remotely the rest of the time.
