Heavy Haulage East Operations Manager
About the Role
This position will report to the General Manager - Heavy Haulage providing safe, cost efficient and reliable transport solutions whilst ensuring heavy haulage assets are safely maintained and utilisation is maximised.
Key Responsibilities
* Enforce compliance with Chain of Responsibility and all statutory and regulatory legislations.
* Ensure cost efficiencies, safety and achieve the highest level of customer service.
* Closely manage all variable costs associated with running the heavy haulage operation.
* Establish and manage customer relationships with key customers, suppliers and the subcontractor workforce.
* Receive enquiries and tender requests from customers and provide quotations within required timeframes.
* Assist in providing strategic direction to heavy haulage operation and fulfilling strategic obligations.
* Manage staffing levels and overtime.
Skills and Experience
* Substantial experience in control of Heavy Haulage operations and people management.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members, other departments stakeholders.
* Strong leadership abilities to oversee and guide a team of drivers, dispatchers, and other transportation personnel.
* A deep understanding of transportation regulations compliance, and safety standards.
* Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), routing software, and other relevant tools.
