We are looking for a self‑motivated, friendly, and adaptable Customer Service Officer to join our team and help us deliver an outstanding library service across Kirklees. Every day is different — and while the work can be challenging at times, it’s incredibly rewarding.
About The Role
* Our libraries are so much more than books. They’re vibrant community spaces where people come to connect, learn, and grow. As a Customer Service Officer, you will :
* Welcome and support people of all ages and backgrounds.
* Help customers with enquiries, library resources, digital and council services.
* Deliver and support activities and events for children, families, and adults — from story times to lifelong learning sessions.
* Work with partner organisations and local communities.
* Carry out administration and IT tasks to keep our services running smoothly.
What We Are Looking For
* Great customer service skills and experience of working with the public.
* Good IT and admin skills — you should be confident using computers and digital resources.
* The ability to engage with people of all ages, from toddlers to older adults.
* A positive, flexible attitude — happy to work independently or as part of a team.
* Willingness to work across different library locations (we have 24 libraries across Kirklees).
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.
* The Relief Customer Service Officer roles will be to give capacity where is needed anywhere in the service and sometimes at short notice to cover absences or project delivery. You will be required to work weekends and evenings and may not have a fixed work pattern.
