POSTDOC POSITION funded by ERC Consolidator Grant
We are looking for an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to join the project “Families and inequality in a flexible world of work” (FLIN; funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant). This project uses the European labour force surveys and other data sources to investigate the role of flexible working (working from home, flextime) for families (gender equality, time use). This position will specifically focus on examining inequality in flexible working.
Your future position is at the Vienna Institute of Demography, Austrian Academy of Sciences, which is part of the Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital (IIASA, OeAW, University of Vienna). You will join a dynamic research environment with scientists working on a diverse array of disciplines in the social sciences.
Your Tasks
* You conduct high-quality research with societal impact that is publishable in international top journals
* You have a key role in all aspects of the research process, from obtaining data and data analysis to independently drafting and publishing academic papers
* You collaborate with a dynamic team of experts in sociology and demography
* You present your research at international conferences, supported by travel funding
Your Profile
* You completed a PhD in Sociology, Demography, Social Statistics, or a related discipline with a focus on quantitative methods (or are in the process of completing it)
* You have excellent skills in quantitative methods. Expertise with panel data analysis, multilevel models and/or causal inference is an advantage
* You are interested in one or more of the following fields and topics: family sociology, gender inequalities, social stratification, labour market
* You have proven experience working with microdata
* You excel in using statistical software, such as Stata or R
* You have demonstrated your capacity to conduct original and rigorous research independently, and to prepare excellent publications
* You are proficient in English
