Mechanical QA/QC Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-driven Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to support a high-profile data centre project. The role will focus on ensuring the quality and compliance of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, chilled water, and fire suppression systems. The successful candidate will manage inspection activities, test documentation, and quality records while ensuring all systems are installed and tested in accordance with client requirements and relevant standards.
Role & Responsibilities
Inspection & Quality Control:
* Conduct inspections and quality checks for mechanical systems: HVAC, chilled water systems, piping networks, and fire suppression systems.
* Verify mechanical installations against approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, local regulations).
* Identify and document non-conformances; assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Documentation & Testing:
* Prepare, review, and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and associated QA/QC documentation.
* Ensure timely execution and documentation of system tests including pressure tests, leak tests, functional performance tests, etc.
* Coordinate with contractors and third parties for test witnessing and report validation.
Compliance & Coordination:
* Ensure all work aligns with client specifications, project quality plans, and relevant statutory and regulatory standards.
* Collaborate closely with design engineers, site supervisors, commissioning teams, and external auditors to resolve quality issues.
* Participate in audits, inspections, and quality reviews as required.
Reporting & Record Keeping:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date QA/QC records and inspection logs.
* Prepare detailed quality reports, test summaries, and punch lists.
Experience and Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC roles for mechanical systems in data centres or similar critical infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA).
* Proficiency in reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, and test protocols.
* Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
* Effective communication and coordination skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
