Technical Sales Engineer – Space Hardware
Location: Linz, Austria (Hybrid)
Travel: 3-5 days per month
Relocation: Support provided (apartment/relocation fee)
Eligibility: EU Citizen required
The Opportunity
An established high-tech engineering manufacturer based in Austria that supplies mission-critical structural and fluid-handling hardware to the global space industry is seeking a technically strong, hunter-minded Key Account Manager / Technical Sales Engineer to join.
The company designs and manufactures advanced lightweight composite and metallic systems used in demanding space environments, supporting satellite platforms, propulsion architectures, and other spacecraft subsystems. With a growing footprint in the international space ecosystem, the business is scaling its commercial presence, targeting satellite OEMs, propulsion providers, launch integrators, and Tier 1/2 aerospace suppliers.
This is not a traditional account management role. It is a full-cycle, revenue-driven position focused on new customer acquisition and strategic account growth within technically complex, multi-stakeholder international sales environments. You'll be the middleman connecting BD with the inside sales team.
Role Mission
Drive new revenue growth across the international space ecosystem by:
Actively acquiring new customers within satellite and propulsion markets
Expanding and developing strategic OEM and prime contractor accounts
Owning the full sales cycle: lead → opportunity → proposal → negotiation → close
Positioning highly engineered hardware solutions for demanding space applications
Leading technical sales discussions with engineering and executive stakeholders
Core Responsibilities
Hunter-driven acquisition of new international space customers
Strategic key account development (OEMs, primes, Tier suppliers)
Executive-level negotiation and complex deal closing
Interface between Business Development, Engineering, and Project Management
Market and competitor analysis within the space and propulsion ecosystem
Representation at international trade shows and customer visits
Required Profile
Several years of B2B technical sales experience in a high-tech environment
Aerospace background or closely related sectors (defense, New Space, propulsion, advanced engineering systems)
Proven track record of closing complex technical deals
Strong ability to translate engineering solutions into commercial value
Fluent business-level English
Willingness to travel internationally (up to 5 days per month)
EU Citizenship required
Strong Advantage
Direct experience in the space sector (satellites, launch systems, subsystems, or components)
Network within the European or international space ecosystem
Technical degree (Mechanical, Aerospace, Physics, or similar)
Personality Fit
Entrepreneurial \"hunter\" mentality
Highly self-driven with strong ownership
Confident in engaging both technical and commercial decision-makers
Commercially sharp, structured, and results-focused
