Role Summary
The HR Business Partner is responsible for executing the HR strategy in the Paper Bags business segment. This role works closely with the Business Segment COO and the leadership team to provide expertise and guidance in talent assessment and development, succession planning, organisational design, performance management, culture and change management. The position supports a global business of ~€1.5 bn with 4,500+ employees, operating in a matrix structure and leading several Regional HR Business Partners while being accountable for capability development and support of HR Site leads across over 30 manufacturing facilities.
Your Mission
Strategic HR Partnership & Leadership
Act as the senior HR partner to the Paper Bags Leadership Team, driving execution of Mondi’s global HR strategy in line with business priorities.
Embed Mondi values and behaviours, enabling leaders to role‑model the desired culture and ways of working.
Contribute to business strategy discussions, providing a strong people and organisational perspective grounded in commercial understanding.
Organisation, Talent & Leadership Development
Partner with leaders to design and implement future‑fit organisational structures, ensuring clarity, simplification and effectiveness.
Lead talent assessment, succession planning and development planning for critical roles and key talent across the segment.
Coach and advise senior leaders to strengthen contemporary leadership capabilities and effectiveness.
HR Delivery & Operating Rhythm
Lead and coordinate core HR processes across the segment, including performance management, salary planning, workforce planning, employee engagement, development planning and DE&I.
Partner closely with HR Centres of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Talent & D&I, Total Rewards, Programs & Analytics, HR Compliance) to deliver a cohesive and aligned HR agenda.
People Leadership & HR Capability
Lead and develop Regional HR Business Partners, providing clear direction, coaching and performance feedback.
Guide and support HR site leads, ensuring effective implementation of the global HR strategy and consistent HR standards.
Continuously assess HR capability across sites and regions, closing gaps through targeted recruitment, development and coaching.
Employee Relations & Governance
Provide leadership on employee relations, including union and works council engagement, ensuring issues are handled effectively, transparently and in compliance with local regulations and Mondi policies.
Ensure fair, consistent and compliant handling of all HR matters across countries.
Collaboration & Presence
Actively contribute as a member of the Extended Mondi HR Leadership Team, fostering collaboration and supporting enterprise‑wide HR initiatives.
Maintain strong connectivity with manufacturing sites through regular visits, ensuring deep understanding of local challenges and effective feedback loops.
Your Profile
Master’s degree or equivalent; HR qualification is an advantage.
10–15 years of HR Business Partner experience in roles of increasing responsibility.
At least 5 years’ experience leading HR teams, ideally in a matrixed, international environment.
Broad HR expertise across workforce planning, talent management, organisational development, rewards, people operations, HR systems and analytics.
Experience in manufacturing or processing environments, preferably Consumer Goods and/or Packaging.
Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, multinational organisations, balancing global and local priorities.
Strong understanding of European labour markets, employment legislation and employee relations across multiple countries.
Strong commercial acumen, including understanding of economic drivers, EBITDA and cash flow.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into pragmatic, actionable outcomes.
Strong influencing, coaching and relationship‑building skills across all organisational levels.
Culturally sensitive, resilient and comfortable operating in ambiguous and fast‑changing environments.
Fluent in English; German and/or another European language is an advantage.
Willingness to travel up to 50%.
