Head of Administration/Accountant

About us
At the Danish Embassy in Canberra, we are a small, dynamic, results-oriented and caring team. We cover a wide range of foreign policy areas; geopolitics, green transition, trade promotion and consular matters just to name a few.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and managing the annual budget
* Quarterly closing of accounts procedures, including preparation of relevant reports
* Follow‑up on monthly reconciliation of bank and balance sheet accounts
* General ledger accounting including handling of daily payables (Navision Stat, a system based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
* Manage payroll including PAYG and superannuation
* Daily handling of payments, including managing incoming payments and balance in bank
* General administration and human resource management, including management of a small team
* Cooperate with colleagues at the Danish Embassy in Canberra and the Danish General Consulate in Sydney, and manage correspondence with the ten Danish Honorary Consuls in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji
Qualifications
* Strong and well‑documented abilities in accounting/financial management
* Relevant higher education degree in accounting or related field
* At least five years of accounting experience
* Familiar with accounting software in general
* Knowledge or experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus
* Ability to quickly learn new software, especially Microsoft Office
* Focused on compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and laws
* Independent thinker, problem solver, adaptable and enjoys being part of a team
Employment Conditions
* Full‑time position on an open‑ended contract based on Australian and Danish labour laws
* Standard 37‑hour work week, with requirement for additional hours when necessary
* Five weeks annual leave, accrued at 2.08 days per month
* Potential for flexible working arrangement

* Successful candidate required to provide an Australian police check and pass a Danish security clearance
