Overview
The internship is located in the Outreach Unit, United Nations Information Service (UNIS), United Nations Office at Vienna (Austria). The position is for six months with the envisaged starting date on 9 February 2026. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the direct supervision of Professional staff of the Unit. For more information on UNIS, please visit unis.unvienna.org. Responsibilities
* Prepares project outlines and supports the Unit in its everyday activities.
* Assists in the organization of events, film screenings, exhibitions, campaigns.
* Drafts written material, presentations, remarks, social media content, multimedia products, etc.
* Establishes contacts with NGOs, IGOs, Civil Society, academics.
* Performs other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications / Special Skills
* Be computer literate in standard software applications;
* Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
* Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this Internship, fluency in oral and written English and German is required. Knowledge of a UNIS client country language (Hungarian, Slovak, Slovene) is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
