Organizational Setting
The Department of Safeguards acts as the world's nuclear inspectorate, supporting global non-proliferation efforts. It develops safeguards to prevent nuclear material diversion and undeclared activities, comprising inspectors and technical staff involved in inspections, analysis, and information management.
The Division of Information Management (SGIM) employs advanced methodologies for collecting and analyzing safeguards-relevant information, including satellite imagery, to support verification activities.
Main Purpose
Reporting to the Section Head, the Safeguards Information Analyst (Satellite Imagery) conducts detailed analysis of satellite imagery and contributes to the State evaluation process, enhancing the Department's verification capabilities.
Role
The analyst specializes in nuclear infrastructure analysis using multi-sensor satellite imagery, prepares analytical products, engages with stakeholders, integrates geospatial data, and contributes to R&D initiatives.
Key functions include conducting expert satellite imagery analysis, authoring reports, integrating geospatial data, collaborating with departmental staff, leading methodological development, training staff, and participating in inspections.

Required Expertise

Qualifications and Experience
* Master's degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience
* At least 7 years of practical experience in satellite imagery analysis related to nuclear proliferation
* Excellent command of English; knowledge of other IAEA languages is an asset
