Redstone Commodity Search focuses on offering 360° search solutions to the global commodities markets. With competitive coverage of trading houses, producers, majors, utilities, merchants, hedge funds, investment banks and brokerages, Redstone Commodity Search can confidently offer you an edge in today’s volatile market. We are working with an international trading house and are seeking a commercially driven leader with at least 10 years’ experience in commodity trading, ideally in the Austrian and/or CEE market. The role requires fluency in German and English, strong local market knowledge, and a proven network across retail, wholesale, and industry. This position is only open to candidates already based in Austria, the position is to be based in Vienna.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the trading desk for nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, with oversight of grains and oilseeds.
* Define and execute trading strategies based on market trends and customer needs in Austria and CEE.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and key accounts across retail, wholesale, and industry.
* Collaborate closely with operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure efficient trade execution.
* Manage, mentor, and grow the local trading team to achieve sustainable business growth.
Key Experience
* Minimum 10 years in senior trading or commercial roles within the nuts, seeds, dried fruits, or related commodity markets.
* Proven track record managing trading desks or commodity business units with commercial success.
* Deep knowledge of procurement, packaging, and supply chain logistics in the EU.
* Established network of key account relationships across Austria and neighbouring markets.
* Fluency in German and English, with strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
