With a strong focus on creating long-term value, the role plays a key part in supporting the University’s strategic priorities through effective financial risk management and balance sheet optimisation.This position leads capital raising initiatives and oversees the financial management of the University’s endowment property portfolio, while also supporting bequests, gifted funds, and other investment contributors. A core function of the role is to provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Investment Committee, offering insights on financial markets, economic conditions, and funding strategies to inform decision-making.Core Responsibilities:Responsible for leading UWA’s investment strategy, managing fund managers, and ensuring alignment with strategic goals and risk appetite. Oversees internal investment income allocation in line with fund conditions and policies.Leads treasury and debt management, including capital funding, cash flow, liquidity, credit rating, and debt facilities. Develops and implements treasury strategies and manages banking relationships.Manages financial risk related to currency, interest rates, liquidity, and credit exposure, ensuring effective mitigation strategies and compliance.Provides strategic leadership to the treasury and investment team, advises the CFO, and supports long-term financial planning aligned with the University’s objectives.Oversees accurate reporting and compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements.Engages with stakeholders including the Investment Committee, senior leaders, auditors, and financial institutions, and represents the University in external forums.Lead and develop a small, high-performing team - fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.About youAs an accomplished treasury and investment leader, you will have proven experience in overseeing complex investment portfolios and leading sophisticated treasury operations within a large, diverse, and multifaceted organisation.Required skills, experience and qualifications include:Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or a related field, with full professional membership (CA, CPA, CFA, or CTP highly regarded).Extensive experience in treasury and investment functions, including cash flow forecasting, internal controls, and financial reporting.Strong commercial acumen and in-depth knowledge of financial markets, risk management practices, and investment governance.Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to translate financial strategies into operational outcomes.Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.Why Join UWA?Play a key role in shaping the financial future of a globally respected institution.Lead and develop a talented and agile team in a purpose-driven environment.Join a progressive leadership team committed to innovation, sustainability, and impact.How to applyPlease apply online attaching your resume and a one-page cover letter.
