Learning & Talent Development Lead
Salary: up to £55,000 per year
Hours: 35 per week

Location: flexible – Home/Hybrid/London
About Us:
We're the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), a national charity dedicated to supporting the almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK. Our mission is to create a world without barriers for individuals affected by sight loss, challenging perceptions and advocating for a fully accessible society.
About the role:
2025 has been exciting year for our Organisational Development team - we've played our part in RNIB's transformation for the future by working on capability, learning, talent, culture and engagement, performance and colleague experience.
The Learning & Talent Development Lead is a key subject matter expert on colleague learning at RNIB. A critical part of the role is to develop RNIB's leadership capability, including the associated knowledge, skills, and behaviour needed to deliver our 10-year ambitious strategy.
The role-holder also takes the lead on building and delivering effective learning and talent development programmes, using blended and digital learning approaches, aligning and integrating RNIB's apprenticeship offering, and providing an efficient core learning offer. Finally, they are responsible for learning evaluation and the production of data and insight to demonstrate value to stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
* With the Head of Learning and Talent, create and deliver an effective learning framework for leadership & behavioural development, evolving the approach over time to reflect insight on learning effectiveness and emerging best practice.
* Scope, design, plan, deliver, and evaluate core corporate, leadership & behavioural learning interventions, targeting the needs of key segments (from Executive through to individual contributor and early careers) at different stages of the colleague journey.
* Lead RNIB's approach to individual and group coaching, mentoring and use of diagnostic tools (e.g. psychometrics, group dynamics, 360 feedback, capability assessment), ensuring solutions have strategic and cultural fit, and are integrated into the blended learning offering.
* Manage the RNIB Apprenticeship offer; ensuring it is integrated to the broader learning and talent framework, that it targets critical capabilities and key colleague personas, and that business impact is managed effectively.
* Scope, refine and review learning and talent development programmes – critically assessing learning and talent needs vs. learning offering to identify potential solutions or enhancements to existing solutions based on professional expertise, internal and external research, and the team's ideas.
* Partner effectively with People team colleagues and others with learning or change oriented roles to ensure a joined-up approach and to build a high-performing learning community of practice.
* Engage and influence senior stakeholders through effective consultancy on learning needs, the presentation of highly credible, strategically impactful learning proposals and through expert facilitation of senior leader delivery where required.
* Manage and report on allocated investment in line with agreed plan, and set up and manage relevant supplier relationships, clearly evidencing value for money and achievement of required learning outcomes
About you:
You have worked in OD, L&D or Talent in a large-scale organisation, building significant experience in how targeted capability development and a high-impact learning environment can enable business strategy and underpin the talent cycle.
You demonstrate understanding of how learning connects with other HR disciplines in a systemic approach to organisational health.
You have significant experience in leadership development and behavioural change with deep expertise across the full learning cycle (scoping, design, delivery, evaluation) and experience of designing and delivering from Executive level downwards.
Your approach to learning is blended, with skills in designing and delivering facilitated face-to-face and virtual learning, coaching, mentoring, self-directed learning and work-based practice.
You are a qualified psychometric practitioner, accredited in contemporary, credible tools and with experience of integrating diagnostics into learning solutions.
You have strong technical capability, having implemented and maintained a Learning Management System (LMS), and managed/curated associated learning content. You're skilled in using e-learning authoring tools to build and deliver core corporate learning, ensuring governance and regulatory requirements are met and accurate records kept.
You can demonstrate your track record in managing external learning providers/partners including negotiating contracts, monitoring performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and budgets, ensuring business aligned, high-quality deliverables.
As a person, you are proactive, resilient and organised, ensuring you always execute your work on time and to high standards. You manage stakeholders proactively, and are an excellent communicator, in-person and in-writing. You are comfortable working autonomously within a clear scope, and value strong connections with the work of others. You see the strategic value of activity, as well as translating that value into practical plans and deliverables.
As a learning professional, you are naturally curious and adaptable, with an appetite for having the latest credible thinking in your back pocket. You do this through CPD and cross-sector networking.
In return:
RNIB prides itself on being a great place to work with a positive, progressive culture. We offer a wide range of benefits:
* 26 days of holiday each year, rising with service (plus a 'grace' day and bank holidays)
* Holiday buy and sell (up to 5 days can be bought or sold)
* Enhanced family friendly benefits
* A contributory pension scheme with an employer contribution of up to 11%
* Employee wellbeing and volunteering schemes
* A rewards platform with employee discounts across over 800 retailers.
