Overview
Product and process development of aluminum electrolyte capacitors and supercapacitors, including radial, SMD capacitors and EDLCs for non-automotive and automotive (IATF) specific requirements.
Responsibilities
* Specification of production samples (from prototyping to series production), setup, triggering and assessment of appropriate tests in the quality department.
* Participation in setup of change proposals and modification of production rules.
* Accompanying evaluation of currently applied materials, components and uncovering potential for standardization in existing product lines.
* Failure analysis (products, process and materials).
* Development of non-standard capacitors based on existing products and product lines, including customer-specific “specials”.
* Application support & design-in.
* Analyses of competitors’ products and technical analyses of competitors’ products; benchmarking against Vishay products.
* Electrical and analysis measurement techniques: measurement and assessment of relevant electrical, physical and chemical parameters of capacitors; measurement of non-standard electrical parameters.
* In-depth analyses applying X-ray imaging, SEM, reflow soldering simulation and long-time testing with acceleration factors (e.g., temperature, humidity, overvoltage, and current).
* Manufacturing support (troubleshooting) and interface to the operations department with regard to series production.
* Assessment of new materials (note: will be done by a newly introduced separate function in the short term): specification, appropriate testing, approval and introduction of new materials such as electrode foils (anodes and cathodes; aluminum and carbon foils), separator material (low impedance and high voltage), electrolytes (low and high temperatures) and administrative handling of the related approval process.
