As the IT of the REWE Group Austria, we work together with our more than 700 employees to develop innovative IT products and services for all our corporate divisions in Austria and abroad, setting the tone for modern trade.
Job Description
* Own and drive major incidents end‑to‑end: triage, coordination, service restoration and post‑incident follow‑up (RCA, problem management).
* Provide third‑level troubleshooting across LAN/WAN, wireless, SD‑WAN and security fundamentals in multi‑vendor enterprise environments.
* Deliver board‑ or C‑level‑ready communication during major incidents: translate technical status, risks and options into clear, decision‑oriented updates for senior leadership.
* Improve monitoring and alerting quality (signal vs. noise), dashboards and operational runbooks; ensure actionable and measurable outcomes (e.g., MTTA/MTTR reduction).
* Handle top projects without technical supervision: lead high‑priority operational workstreams (service stabilization, rollout readiness, critical changes) and drive execution independently.
* Identify improvement opportunities proactively and translate business impact into technical priorities (what matters most, why and what to do first).
* Resolve cross‑team dependencies and autonomously resolve conflicts beyond one’s subject area to keep incidents and critical work moving forward.
* Collaborate closely with Network Engineering, IT Security and Business Units to ensure smooth operations, effective handovers and aligned priorities.
* Strengthen incident, problem and change practices aligned with ITIL principles; raise operational maturity through repeatable processes and templates.
* Own knowledge management in the NOC: maintain high‑quality documentation (runbooks, knowledge articles, RCA write‑ups) and ensure it is usable in real incidents.
* Design and support the technical training approach for employees (e.g., onboarding path, incident playbooks, troubleshooting standards, “train‑the‑trainer” elements).
* May participate in an on‑call/standby rotation depending on operational needs (if applicable).
Qualifications
* 8+ years experience in Network Operations / NOC / Operations Engineering in an enterprise, multi‑site environment.
* Strong troubleshooting skills and structured thinking across routing and switching fundamentals, plus solid operational awareness of wireless, WAN/SD‑WAN and security concepts.
* CCNA‑level knowledge (certification welcome but not required) or equivalent hands‑on experience.
* Experience working in Cisco and/or Juniper enterprise environments (operations and troubleshooting).
* Hands‑on experience with Splunk, Syslog and monitoring platforms (alerting, dashboards, log analysis).
* Proven ability to lead or coordinate major incidents under pressure, including executive‑level translation of technical status into business impact and decision options.
* Demonstrated ability to handle top projects without technical supervision and drive outcomes independently.
* Strong organisational awareness: knowledge beyond one’s immediate domain and a proven ability to build and use an internal network across teams to accelerate resolution and delivery.
* Strong documentation and knowledge management habits; ability to structure and maintain operational content that works in real‑life incident situations.
* B2 English proficiency. German beneficial; additional CEE languages an advantage.
Additional Information
* Flat hierarchies and short decision‑making channels.
* A family‑friendly company culture with flexible working hours and remote working options available according to your individual needs.
* Numerous training and further development opportunities within the Group (5% of working time for self‑organised training and education).
* A lunch allowance.
* Staff shopping and travel discounts.
* Extensive workplace wellness programme including fitness classes, massages, etc.
* An industry‑standard, attractive and performance‑based annual gross salary starting at 70,000 Euro (on a full‑time basis) with the possibility of higher pay according to experience and qualifications.
