Topic area of your PhD project:

Implementation research on the early detection of autism spectrum disorders and subsequent graded early intervention

The Faculty of Medicine at Johannes Kepler University Linz is sending a strong signal for further development in research. As part of a targeted stimulus program, the Faculty of Medicine has created six Young Research Groups with the aim of giving outstanding young scientists the opportunity to develop independent research profiles in forward-looking medical fields.

The Young Research Group is part of the Autism Lab at the Clinical Research Institute for Developmental Medicine. The newly established group, consisting of one postdoc and two predocs, aims to develop innovative, scientifically excellent contributions in the field of implementation research of modern approaches to early detection and personalized early intervention (longitudinal) in children on the autism spectrum.

One position as an university assistant with a diploma/master's degree is available.

One possible topic for the PhD project provides scientific support for a pilot project on autism screening as part of parent-child checkups at the age of 2, referral for diagnosis, and transition to early therapy.

In another possible project, algorithms to support personalized therapy decisions will be developed based on the developmental trajectories of autistic children in an adaptive treatment model (autism-specific early interventions).

Job Duties:

* Collaboration in a validation and feasibility study in the field of pediatric practice
* Close collaboration with pediatricians in private practice and early intervention specialists
* Development of an individual research profile in the field of autism research
* Support in establishing the early-career research group
* Supervision of research projects within the Young Research Group, including planning, methodological implementation, documentation, analysis, and interpretation of experimental approaches
* Compilation, analysis, interpretation, and publication of collected data in scientific journals and at conferences
* Maintaining research networks within and outside of JKU
* Participation in scientific publications and reports
* Involvement in infrastructural and organizational tasks
* Participation in teaching
* Supervision of bachelor's and master's theses

Your Qualifications:

* The successful candidate must hold a completed diploma or master's degree in social or health sciences (a medical degree would be prefered)
* Experience in scientific work, ideally already with own publications.
* Knowledge of basic and advanced quantitative and qualitative methods
* Willingness to delve into the topics of Autism Spectrum Disorder and early detection.
* Willingness to work closely in a multidisciplinary team.
* Pedagogical skills and experience at both bachelor's and master's levels are desired
* Excellent communication skills in German (C1) and English (C1).
* Teamwork skills, loyalty, and service orientation
