Position Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for mentoring junior staff while also managing client relationships and overseeing project delivery. You will ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, maintain high client satisfaction, and balance a blend of technical accounting, project management, and client-facing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and review financial statements, tax returns, BAS, IAS, and FBT prepared by your team.
* Mentor and train staff, building technical excellence and confidence.
* Manage workflow to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
* Advise on complex tax matters and tax-efficient structuring (incl. property portfolios).
* Partner with the Senior client manager on client portfolio management and strategic planning.
* Build lasting client relationships through clear communication and trusted advice.
* Stay ahead of legislative changes and implement compliance practices.
* Conduct client meetings, review financial statements, and present key findings and recommendations.
* Stay informed on changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry trends to provide up-to-date, strategic advice.
* Ensure all client deliverables meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations.
Skills
* High level of integrity and professionalism.
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in Australian public practice accounting.
* Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles, tax laws, and financial regulations.
* Proven ability to manage and develop client relationships.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills.
* Experience reviewing and mentoring junior accounting staff.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in accounting software Xero.
